Elina Duni: A unique voice of contemporary jazz, wins Swiss Jazz Prize. Elina Duni was born in Tirana, Albania, in 1981, into a family of writers and filmmakers. She began performing on Albanian radio at the age of 5, but after moving to Switzerland in the early 1990s, her musical journey took a new direction. Her distinctive style combines ancient Albanian folklore with minimalist jazz, sung in many languages – including Albanian, French, Italian and German. Every note carries a memory, as Duni weaves delicate sounds with an inner intensity and refined improvisation.
