Anila Balla, a theatre director, actress, and film producer from Tirana, Albania, represents her country this summer at Ibérica: Performance Art Residency & Festival in Spain. Renowned for her socially engaged artistic practice, Anila explores themes of freedom, oppression, and identity through performance and film. She is also a member of the European Film Academy since 2022. Her debut short film The News won Best Short at Flickerfest in Sydney and was selected as an EFA candidate, a milestone that confirms her voice as one of the most distinct in contemporary Albanian art.
